Dear Members,
Several important developments that have taken place in our Association’s computer-related activities:
1. A new Chairman of the ICT Committee ( Committee on Information and Communications Technology) : This is Mr. Markus Schmitz (details below), Managing Director of SoftImpact Ltd, a marine software company based in Limassol. Soft Impact is an Associate member of our Association since 2006. Markus has demonstrated his interest and commitment to InterManager by developing the InterManager website at no cost for our Association. We believe that InterManager will gain a lot with Markus’ further involvement, and we welcome him to our organization.
2. The website of InterManager is now expanded to include a number of Forums that will allow members and guests to exchange ideas, experiences, files and other information. There are 11 forums, going from the most general forum, to specialized ones on issues of criminalization or piracy. There are also forums that are restricted to the members of some committees: for example the KPI forum is open only to those people involved in the KPI Project as advised by the Chairman of the KPI Project, Georges Hoyt. PLEASE ACCESS THE INTERMANAGER WEBSITE AND REGISTER FOR THE FORUMS.
3. The ICT Committee will also have an advisory role in the involvement of our Association with other Computer-related projects. This includes, in particular, the work that will be done in the development of the future KPI Data Base system.
4. Markus Schmitz is eager to have more information about the needs of our members in the field of information and communications technology. He has circulated a questionnaire to the persons attending our AGM last week, and is in the process of collecting them. If you have not had the Questionnaire, please do not hesitate to ask him, so that you can contribute to our Association
5. Last but not least, we are asking for good wills!!! Markus will ask for people to join the ICT Committee in order to face the workload that we hope will be important. So, please do not hesitet to come forward with your name to become a member of the ICT Committee.
